May 2016_3Why? Because every cell in your body consists of water – your body is made up of 70% water and your brain is 90% water.

Here are 10 good reasons why you should increase your water intake.

1. Increases energy and relieves fatigue.

2. Promotes weight loss – Removes by-products of fat, reduces eating intake (by filling up your tummy if consumed prior to meals), reduces hunger (hello natural appetite suppressant!), raises your metabolism and has zero calories!

3. Flushes toxinsfrom the body.

4. Improves skin complexion – best ani-wrinkle treatment.

5. Maintains regularity.

6. Boosts your immune system.

7. Natural headache remedy– take 2 large glasses when you first become aware of a headache.

8. Prevents cramps and sprains.

9. Your mood improves when you are hydrated.

10. It’s Free!

How: Create Habits

Every time I go to the bathroom, I have glass of water.

Every time I sit at my desk, I have a glass of water (helps me think) – even after a short break.

Keep a water bottle on your desk, have a water bottle in your handbag, drink a glass of water every time you eat – meals and snacks.

Create habits so that you don’t have to think about drinking. When you increase your water intake, your body will remind you to drink as it will feel dehydrated. Sounds strange but it works!

  1. Can vouch for Bev’s comment re. the necessity of water.
I drink 200ml minimum every hour and I feel more energized because it has also helped to lose a few kilos.

  2. Thanks for taking the time to post a comment Lyn, as it is always lovely to hear from you. You have created a good ‘hourly habit’. Great weight loss tip for the other readers!
