Phot Julie BarkerI am living a laptop lifestyle where I am house sitting full time and travelling as often as I can. As I type this, I am about to embark on a journey to Queensland for at least a month to escape the bitter Melbourne winter, and my business goes with me.

Life hasn’t always been like this. About 2-1/2 years ago, I was sitting pretty.  I headed up a very large party plan business with a well known skin and body care company, had the nice car, lots of free overseas travel and all the perks that went with it. But I was miserable … I felt trapped and stuck. The constant pressure and high monthly targets of selling products to earn my income was tough.

So I made a huge decision to walk away. A lot of people told me I was mad. Why would I leave all that I have worked for? But it was never going to change and I had to live with myself, and I wasn’t being a good leader for my team and could no longer promote or endorse the business I was building.

Life hasn’t been easy. It has been very tough as financially I was not in a good position. The trouble was the minute I left my party plan business, the income stopped. There is only so long you can live off your savings.  So I started with another business. All online this time, as my burning desire was to have a laptop lifestyle – one where I can travel the world earning an income online with the ease of technology and to be able to work anywhere I choose.

However, just when I was set to run with this new business, after leaving the party plan business, my new company changed the compensation plan. As the loyal person I am, I stayed with them while they made change after change until about 12 months ago, I finally had enough. I then joined my current company that ticks all the right boxes, is stable and I can truly promote as an online business, sharing an amazing range of exclusive skincare and nutrition line.

So I am now enjoying the journey again with an amazing company called Jeunesse Global, and loving every part of the ride. I am now on track to be travelling through Europe in about 2 years. I will be able to stay away as long as I am able to and to have the fun of house sitting and enjoying the culture of different countries and building my global business with my laptop and phone.

To say my life has been an adventure over the last couple of years is an understatement … and as challenging as it has been and continues to be at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am happy and in control of my future and how I choose to spend my day. Whether it is spending the day building my business or packing my trusty camera and exploring a new area, I have that choice!

We only have one life, and life is short. I don’t want to have regrets – of the things I haven’t done or places I never got to – so I am spending my 50s as a perpetual gypsy, travelling, exploring and simply making the best of every situation, and maybe I might settle down in the one spot when I am 60. Who knows?!
