Lorraine Headshot.jpgI would describe myself as a “good all-rounder” with the ability to turn my hand to anything. This is the perfect fit for a primary school teacher, as you are teaching a broach range of curriculum subjects and that is what kept me engaged in my career for more than 20 years. I worked 4 days a week taking on the roles of classroom teacher as well as Music and Physical Education Specialist. I appreciated my teaching job and I felt grateful for the balance I had with work and family life.

Then I hit my mid 40’s and I started to evaluate my life and ask myself, “Had I achieved everything I could?” I came back from the Christmas Holidays and within a few weeks, I had decided that I did not want to do what I was doing for another 15 years. I resigned at the end of Term One. Yes, I could have taken long service leave or leave without pay, but I decided that I was not giving myself any excuse to fail to move on. It was sink or swim!

Never underestimate how transferable your current skills are to other professions. Believe that you can do anything you choose if you are prepared to learn and study. “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” – Brian Tracy.

So with this attitude and a preparedness to work hard, I plunged into a Real Estate Sales career.  I spent six days a week in my first year knocking on doors asking the owners, “Were they thinking of selling?” Gradually, I built up a group of clients who consider me as, “their Agent”. Five years down the track, I am now a fully-licensed Real Estate Agent who has assisted hundreds of clients with their real estate needs. My goal is to educate my clients and make the selling and buying process as easy as possible for them.

The strategy I use for success is to set achievable goals and follow through on what you say you will do for yourself and your clients.

As Sir Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”.
