June 2016_3Sleep is an essential ingredient for a healthy and youthful life. Many mature women over the age of 50 suffer from poor sleep – for a whole variety of reasons so here are 5 tips.

  1. Try and go to bed at the same time every night as this creates a routine. It is a little like when you were trying to get your kids to sleep when they were young.
  2. Get plenty of activity during the day. Move more – especially if you sit for long periods at a desk.
  3. Learn how to relax – meditate, listen to some music or as I now do, colour in my book before I go to bed.
  4. Clear your mind by creating a ‘to do list’.
  5. Have a healthy diet. Be aware of what you eat and drink – especially close to bed time.
